Digital Learning: External Tools

These tools are well suited for intermediate to advanced users that have prior experience with educational learning technology. The college does not have institutional licenses or access to troubleshoot these technologies. It's important to select an appropriate strategy before engaging with the educational technology to ensure appropriate alignment with the intended learning outcomes.

Basic Collaboration Tool - Padlet

This content curation tool can be used to replace onsite activities such as gallery walks and world cafes. These activities would typically require students to use post-it notes to add to a topic.

Intermediate Collaboration Tool - MentiMeter

This polling software can be used to facilitate collaborative learning activities where you wish to collect survey data from students in creative ways.

Advanced Collaboration Tool - Top Hat

The vendor for the "TopHat" application is now free for the remainder of the semester. This is a highly engaging resource but not ideal for new users. It's important that students are well supported in your teaching strategy but we know that some faculty have been using this application in their onsite courses.

These resources might help Faculty efforts in identifying alternative teaching strategies as they can be used to supplement existing/new lessons or activities.
