Student Success Division
The Student Success Division is your partner in supporting students throughout their careers at St. Lawrence College. Their mission is:
“We seek to help every student experience genuine belonging in the SLC community and to offer each one meaningful supports that ensure their physical and mental well-being, their academic success, and their ability to thrive in an interconnected world.”
This is achieved through the Student Success departments and services, which include the following.
Academic Support Centres - Professional tutors provide individual and group tutoring for writing, ESL, math, accounting, science, I.T. and presentation skills. Peer tutors offer support for course specific subjects.
Ancillary Services – The division is partnered with reputable providers for Campus Bookstores, Food Services, and Events & Banquet Services.
Athletics & Student Engagement – There are opportunities for students to participate in varsity, intermural, extramural, and recreational sports, and to utilize personal fitness facilities. To engage students, programs in new student transition, co-curricular tracking, and leadership are also offered.
Campus Health Centres – On-campus clinics and telemedicine provide access to physicians, registered nurses, health care, vaccinations, and health promotion.
Global Learning & Partnerships – Learning is enriched with Study Abroad programs, intercultural learning on campus, the Global Conversation Club, and Integrated English programs on campus. ESL (English as a Second Language), summer, and short-term customized training are also available.
Indigenous Services – This specialized team includes Indigenous Student Advisors, an Indigenous Counsellor, and the Waasaabiidaasamose Indigenous Centre.
Libraries – These quintessential learning spaces include online and print material collections, information services, quiet study areas, and collaborative workspaces.
Residence & Housing – It’s “home away from home” at campus residences. Off-campus housing support is also available.
Student Rights & Responsibilities - These professionals support academic appeals, student complaints, and sexual violence prevention, and address issues related to the Student Code of Conduct. They also play a key role on the Behavioural Intervention Team (BIT).
Student Services - High-quality customer service providers help to navigate college resources and processes, including student records and financial aid.
Student Success & Advising - This department includes:
Student Success Facilitators who offer early intervention supports and learning strategies support;
International Student Advisors who support students with immigration, settlement, and transition to Canada; and
Community Development initiatives that facilitate seamless integration for International students into local communities.
Student Wellness & Accessibility – This department offers the caring services of counselors, support groups, mental health resources, spiritual care, THRIVE Community. They also support academic accommodations, disability-related supports, and service animal registration.
