Ai & Immersive Technology:
Teaching with Ai
Provisional Guidelines on the use of AI in Classrooms
The college hosted a virtual info session on Jan 4 for faculty and staff to discuss the new provisional guidelines to the SLC community.
These guidelines have been developed using insights from various consultations including an interdisciplinary think tank activity in October 2023 where faculty, staff, students, and administrators explored various facets of AI. The draft guidelines were also shared with Program Coordinators, Information Technology Services (ITS), and all Student Success departments prior to launch.
You can access the guidelines by visiting the following areas:
Blackboard - the new “institutional” page includes a link to the guidelines for all users (faculty/staff/students).
SCTL Website (you are here!) - the guidelines and future related resources will be located on the new AI page.
We would like to thank everyone who participated in the consultations and share our gratitude to lead facilitators Patrick Egbunonu and Barb LeBlanc for collating these voices within a succinct document.
Learn more by reviewing the guidelines and watching the recording.
Want to join the conversation?
We invite interested faculty and staff to join the Community of Practice on AI (see below), review our regular workshops, book a 1on1 consultation, and register for a Learning Series.
CoP: Teaching with Artifical Intelligence (AI)
This CoP is designed to explore the evolving landscape of AI tools that have the potential to disrupt various dimensions of teaching and learning. Theses discussions will explore various opportunities and challenges in an effort to identify specific teaching strategies that might inspire experimentation with AI tools. We also welcome staff to participate in this CoP as the introduction of AI tools will continue to impact all facets of higher education.
