Review our Monthly Schedule of Teaching & Learning Opportunities
Generative AI, or GenAI, is proving to be both a disruption as well as opportunity in postsecondary education. These tools and their applications are varied and growing. The SCTL aims to facilitate learning and provide guidance in their effective usage by SLC staff and educators.
Generative AI is a technology that can create text, images, code, audio, and video or combinations of them all. These tools have been trained on huge quantities of content including literature and textbooks, journals, news articles, and more, so are now able to generate 'new' variations. GenAI tools are powered by Large Language Models, or LLMs.
You may see generative AI abbreviated as GenAI or GAI.
Be aware that GenAI output may be inaccurate and/or biased.
In any and all instances, users must critically assess and verify all GAI output.
