Review our Monthly Schedule of Teaching & Learning Opportunities
Below are a variety of tools that could be used individually or in combination by both educators and learners to brainstorm, iterate, critique, supplement, research, and more. Image, audio, and video tools could be used by educators to create engaging classroom activities and experiences, or by learners to complement the demonstration of their skills and knowledge.
ChatGPT is the most popular GenAI text tool available. There are three versions, ChatGPT (free), ChatGPT Plus ($20/month), and ChatGPT Pro ($200/month). They are powered by large language models, or LLMs, and there are multiple models that can be toggled in the paid versions.
Tools like ChatGPT can be used in a variety of ways to enhance teaching and learning. This tool is continually being upgraded to offer more functionality. Click the icon to go to the website.
Copilot is an integration of GPT-4o built into a Microsoft 365 app. It is available as a smartphone application, a desktop app built into Windows 11, or via a browser like Microsoft Edge. This tool offers much of the functionality of ChatGPT and, when bundled as part of our SLC Microsoft 365 license, offers enterprise data protection as well (which means your data is not used for training.)
Copilot can be accessed in the browser from slc.me or as a desktop application.
Generative AI image generators produce images from text. One such tool is built into our Blackboard LMS. These images can be tailored to accompany slide presentations, student projects, or as interesting MS Teams backgrounds. Most free tools require users to create an account.
ChatGPT can generate a limited number of images per day for free users. For more options, try the tools linked below.
Generative AI audio generators produce audio from text. These range from voicing text to creating custom sound effects to music generators. These could be used to create audio from existing text, to create sound effects for presentations, or to add background music to slides and activities. You could also suggest these tools to students to creatively incorporate into their work.
Most free tools require users to create an account.
Generative AI video generators produce video from text. Most free tools offer limited usage but are sufficient to demonstrate potential applications. Some tools can also create AI avatars to accompany and 'voice' text content.
